How To by Randall Munroe
If you already know the web comic xkcd you’ll know what to expect from its creator and author Randall Munroe. You’ll probably have read his earlier book ‘What If?’, or online extracts from it. In this latest publication Munroe applies his accustomed scientific geekery to apparently everyday problems, exploring solutions which may, or might, or definitely won’t, work. As he’s fond of saying, whatever you do don’t take any of this kind of advice from a webcomic author who quite likes it when things go bang and burst into flames.
So if you want to know how many shots it took Serena Williams to knock down a drone by serving tennis balls at one, or how test pilot and astronaut Col Chris Hadfield suggests you could land a plane on a ski jump, or how you could keep ants out of your house with a lava moat, then this is the book for you.
