Oberaarjoch hut

Approach

The hut is on the north side of the col about 50m west of the top. Approach up a short stony path and a fixed ladder.

Facilities

Small and rather cramped. The tiny entry/boot room is also a main thoroughfare - it leads to the kitchen (also tiny), the common room, and the stairs to the sleeping accommodation. The outside door opens blind onto the terrace (beware if you're trying to get in!) and blocks the terrace when it's open. There are a couple of tables and benches on the terrace, but nothing to tempt you to linger. Toilets (only 2) are at the end of the terrace.

The hut has a nominal sleeping capacity of 55 - the sleeping accommodation is communal plus one separate family room. Later arrivals at busy times get mattresses in the rafters. The hut gets very busy at weekends, as the Oberaarhorn is a popular and easy objective.
